Andy Carroll has emerged as a surprise target for Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The West Ham United striker has found it difficult to get regular games this year, both through injury and a lack of form.
He’s made just eight starts this season and came off the bench six times for an appearance total of 14 matches.
So what is it about Carroll that would interest Chelsea? Here, we take a look:
He’d Be a Backup

Chelsea don’t need a striker to be battling with Alvaro Morata for game time. The Spaniard is their main striker and he’d have to be pretty awful over a long period of time for that to change. So, really all Chelsea need is a solid backup that they can rely on. We don’t see why Carroll couldn’t be that backup.
