Everyone was paying attention to the transfer window on deadline day and surely many fans were sitting close to their TV hoping their club signed a few stars. But the idea has now been put in many people’s minds that Stoke City’s new goalkeeper Jack Butland is a replacement for Asmir Begovic in the long run.
In August 2010, Begovic refused to play in a League Cup game for the Potters as he was trying to engineer a move to Stamford Bridge, but the deal collapsed and Begovic has remained at the Britannia ever since.
But rumours were abound again in January that the 25-year-old could be on his way to west London – while Manchester United also showed interest – especially after Butland refused to hold talks with Chelsea officials over a proposed move on transfer deadline day, instead favouring his first-team opportunities under Tony Pulis at Stoke.
