Chelsea signed Drogba for £24m in July 2004, at that time it was Chelsea’s record transfer. Despite scoring his first goal against Crystal Palace his season was interrupted with a Stomach muscle pull against Liverpool. It kept him out for two months. Jose Mourinho decided to wisely use him for less than 90 minutes throughout the season.
He finished with 16 goals in 40 appearances.

Drogba started his love for scoring in Finals that season in the League cup final in extra time against Liverpool, which Chelsea went on to win 3-2. He also won the Premier League with Chelsea. The Club’s first league in 50 years then.
